Jember University

A Brief History
Forerunner of the idea came from Jember University dr. R. Achmad together with R. Th. Soengedi and R. M. Soerachman who aspire to establish colleges in Jember. To realize that goal on April 1, 1957, the three formed a committee named by the composition of the Committee Chairman Triumviraat dr. R. Achmad; Author R. Th. Soengedi, and Treasurer R. M. Soerachman.

Furthermore this Triumviraat Committee on October 5, 1957 to form the foundation by the name Tawang Alun University Foundation (endorsed by Deed dated March 8, 1958 No. 13 in Jember). Foundation University Tawang Alun is then set up a private university in the Jember University Tawang Alun name later shortened UNITA. Along the way, the three characters have the full support when the Regent of Jember, R. Soedjarwo.

Under Decree No. PTIP. 151 1964 November 9, 1964, on the establishment of the State University of Jember. Tireless efforts since 1957 it finally became a reality, the State University of Djember stand!

At its inception in 1964, the abbreviated Djember State University UNED, has five faculties, consisting of the Faculty of Law in Jember, with branches in Banyuwangi, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and the Faculty of Agriculture in Jember, Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Letters in Banyuwangi. With the first rector chaired by dr. R. Achmad.

Leadership dr. R. Followed by Lt. Col. Achmad. Soedi Harjohoedojo (1967-1969), Lieutenant Colonel. Soetardjo, SH (1969-1978) and Col.. Drs. H. R. Warsito (1978-1986). New since 1986, chaired by the rector of the University of Jember its own academic community, namely by Prof.. Dr.. Simanhadi Widyaprakosa (1986-1995), Prof.. Dr.. Kabul Santoso, MS (1995-2003), Dr. Ir. T. Sutikto, MSc (2003-2011) and Drs. Moh. Hasan, MSc PhD (2012 to present).
